Before heading for our trip to Portugal, I took a short trip to Belgium followed by Holland and Shobhit arrived in Amsterdam so we had around 36 hours in this city to spend together.

We started our noon taking a bike tour around the city. Our guide Dodo was great to show us places around the city. We were guided to Amsterdam’s finest parts like the Jordaan District which could be referred to as the heart of the city. Then, we caught up on the history class in front of the famous house of Anne Frank. And among other places, part of this tour was the Vondel Park, which is the central spot for the natives to relax. Our final stop was the “I AMSTERDAM” sign. Following our 2 hour bike tour, we were hungry and decided to grab some nice Italian meal at Maria’s Italian restaurant. Shobhit being a big fan of Pesto had a pasta & I had some delicious pink sauce gnocchi. And just next to this place we found a cool dessert place called Ice bakery. Do try their Macaroons! They were just irresistible. And of course, Amsterdam cannot be complete without a visit to the Red Light District! We took a short walk around this place & went to one of the famous night clubs of Amsterdam called Melkweg!

The next morning we decided to do a cool thing in Amsterdam which not many people are aware about. It is called the A’DAM LOOKOUT. It not only has breathtaking 360 degree views of the city but there is a sensational Swing on the Edge experience too one can take paying 5 additional euros! And it is Europe’s highest swing with a height of 100 meters. The weather was quite cloudy and nice when we went and the feel was so nice as if we are touching the clouds and at the same time admiring some great views of this vibrant city. A Must Do for every visitor to Amsterdam. And not to forget, just besides there is Butcher Social Club which is a great place to chill at any time during the day. It is very easy to get to these spots. You need to cross the Amsterdam Central station and then cross over with local ferry to the other side and walk about 4-5 minutes to the lookout. The ferry ride takes about 5 minutes and is free of cost.

Post our thrilling experience we grabbed some food from Holland’s best fries and local veg shop serving falafels and fresh juices. Around the central station, there are some nice shops like Primark, Zara, H&M, Bershka etc to get some good stuff from and with quite decent prices. In the evening one can try to for a pub crawl tour & check out some local pubs & clubs like Amsterdammed, Brasil Bar. Also, Amsterdam is famous for local beer & weeds for which one can try Bulldog café, Dolphin café, noon coffee shop etc. The city is not only about nightlife but some great places to see around Holland like Zaanse Schaans- Giant Windmills, Giethoorn- Beautiful Dutch Icon of Holland, Rotterdam, Madurodam etc. Should you require more information on these, please write to us & we will be happy to help you.
