For the love of beaches: Algarve

Many a times you remember sights over people when you come back home. And Algarve is one such place which will enchant you with its loveliest beaches. When we say beaches, it is not just that but a lot more- the mountains, golf courses, small towns, developed cities. One can find every interest here whether you are with your family, friends or as couples. Algarve has something for everyone.

Night Scenes in Algarve

Getting off at Faro Airport, we picked up our superb Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. Shobhit & I, both personally love to drive especially when the roads are coastal. Driving all the way to Vale de Lapa where we rented our private villa for 5 days. Having up early, we decided to relax a bit and take a dip in our private pool. Later in the day we drove to the nearby beach of Carvoeiro. (Parking is a bit difficult here). Because we travelled in Summer (July), sunset was late in the evening around 9:15 pm. So, we decided to go to Albufeira & saw the real side of Algarve- so Lively! We strolled around the streets having local shops and cafés & as it turned dark, the music went louder. There is a street full of amazing night clubs which were so lively on a Monday night that it made us think how crazy a weekend here would be! We can’t name one as all were fantastic playing amazing music and almost having same deals on drinks. There are amazing places to eat around the corner serving all types of cuisines.

The next day we decided to do some beach hopping and we started with a rocky terrain beach called Algar Seco. This place had some great views of the sea with amazing rock formations around. There is a walkway path made for visitors to enjoy the views or one can hike down a little & there is a small café & narrow paths to walk and get some good views!

A lighthouse at the end of the world!

Later we moved to Praia Da Marinha which is one of the most beautiful beaches of Portugal. A lot of people just chill on the beach taking sun bath whereas some prefer getting in the water. The waves were quite high late afternoon and though the weather being pleasant the water was quite cold to take a dip in. So, we decided to relax and admire the beautiful cliffs around.

In between the drive

We did not want to miss the sunset which could be seen from the extreme south-western tip of Algarve once known as the end of the world. This was the place Shobhit had been to in 2014 and had sent me a clip from there for the first time from his solo travel experiences. (That time when you’ve fallen for someone but yet to express ) So going to this place was very special. And not to forget we went to the same Indian restaurant where he had been to 3 years back. Memories are beautiful indeed!
